COMPLETE JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
Under the direction of the Circulation Supervisor or Branch Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing direct circulation services to customers in person, over the phone or through the District website. Uses the library automation system to check-in/check-out materials, register customers for library cards, handle cash transactions and make reservations. Answer phone, respond to customer inquiries and refer calls to appropriate departments. Promote library programming, Web resources, self-service and outreach services. Inspect library materials for damage; empty book bins/rooms. Receive and process library materials for shipping. Provide circulation support on outreach runs. May assist in item maintenance.
Schedule
Tuesday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Wednesday 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The work schedule and location may change depending on District needs.
Salary / Wage
$12.04 - $15.05 per hour in six steps, plus benefits including medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program; 11 paid holidays; paid sick and vacation leave; participation in the Public Employees Retirement System.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; two years of direct customer service experience required, one year direct customer service experience in a library setting preferred, public library experience preferred. AA Degree in related field may substitute for up to one year of direct customer service experience. Working knowledge of personal computers and experience using word processing, spreadsheet, or database software; ILS experience preferred. Read and use English and understand numbers; OR any equivalent combination of education, training or experience to assure satisfactory performance of essential job functions.
