CIRCULATION CLERK
MEDICAL LAKE / AIRWAY HEIGHTS LIBRARIES - 20 HOURS PER WEEK

Searching...for a customer service oriented person who values teamwork to provide direct circulation services to customers of all ages in person, over the phone, or through the website as a Circulation Clerk working at both Medical Lake and Airway Heights branches.


This position is responsible for providing direct circulation services, which includes check-in/check-out of materials; inspecting library materials for damage prior to check-in; registering customers and issuing library cards; receiving money from customers; using the library’s automated system; answering the phone, responding to customer inquires, and referring calls to the appropriate department; and processing library materials for shipment.


The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent; two years’ general office or customer service experience; public library experience preferred; AA Degree in related field may substitute for experience; or any combination of education, training, or experience that assures satisfactory performance of essential job functions. The work schedule is: Monday – Thursday 3-8 p.m. (Mondays & Wednesdays at Medical Lake; Tuesdays & Thursdays at Airway Heights.) The work schedule and work location could change depending on District needs.


The salary range is $11.59 - $14.48 per hour in six steps, plus pro rata benefits.

Region II Branches

Covering 1700 square miles with 10 full service branches, serving approximately 250,000 residents, Spokane County Library District (SCLD) is the largest public library system in Spokane County and one of the 10 largest in Washington State. The District is divided into two administrative regions, each comprised of five branches in five unique settings.

The Position... SCLD is searching for a dynamic and experienced professional to lead Region II in the role of Branch Services Manager, working from the Spokane Valley Library. Working in close collaboration with the Region I Branch Services Manager, this position is responsible to the Director for planning, organizing, and implementing all library services provided from the branch libraries within the region and for its facilities, staff, and other resources. The Branch Services Manager role is a critical part of the District’s management team, closely involved in strategic planning, library advocacy throughout the community, and review of individual services and how they affect the District as a whole. Salary/Wage... $68,224 - $85,300 DOQ, plus excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program; 11 paid holidays; paid sick and vacation leaves; participation in the public employees retirement system


Summary of job qualifications include... Master of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited school, a minimum of five years progressively responsible professional library management experience in public services with at least three years recent professional management experience in a public library; advanced training in the areas of administration and/or supervision of library programs and personnel may substitute for up to one year of the experience.
