If you’ve been on our website or in our libraries wondering what the hoopla “hoopla” is – wonder no more.

hoopla is the Library District’s new streaming media service that gives you (free) access to brand new music by Nicki Minaj, Lorde, Rihanna and more, as well as classic and newer movies and TV (including anime), and audiobooks.

Here’s how it works

Use your Spokane County Library District card to sign up here.

You can check out up to 5 titles a month – movies and TV are available for 72 hours from checkout, audiobooks stay with you for 21 days, and music is available for 7 days.

You don’t have to worry about turning anything back in – when your time is up, the item automatically returns itself and disappears from your “My Titles” page.

There is also a mobile app for hoopla so you can watch and/or listen on your devices. New titles are being added all the time – current new music includes the Catching Fire soundtrack, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga. While the TV and movies are a little older, you can still catch such “nouveau classics” as The Mummy, Pride and Prejudice, Serenity, and 2Fast 2Furious or watch a much younger Martin Freeman (of The Hobbit fame) in the original BBC The Office. Take a look and let us know what you think!
